The importance of rubber cloth as a transfer carrier in printing is self-evident. And in our daily use, we inevitably encounter various problems. There are nine main issues:
Problem 1: The printing area appears blurry and incomplete
★ Solution
Inspect the areas damaged by the impact, as well as the rubber cloth and/or padding. Simultaneously attempt to adjust the embossing drum settings.
Check the thickness of the rubber blanket, check the lining, and repair or replace the rubber blanket.
Check the thickness of the lining according to the conditions of the printing machine, as well as the pressure between the printing plate, rubber cloth, and embossing drum.
Repair the liner imprinting roller or rubber cloth imprinting roller.
Remake the printing plate.
Problem 2: The rubber jacket strip falls off
★ Solution
Use the correct torque to install the rubber cloth (the torque value can be consulted with the machine manufacturer or found in the machine manual)
The thickness of the rubber blanket after installation needs to be accurate (can be measured using a diameter gauge)
Insufficient width or thickness of adhesive or tape during the installation of the rubber strip clamp.
Check the size specifications of the rubber cloth clamp corresponding to the printing machine.
Check whether both sides of the rubber cloth clamp are pressed in place after installation.
Check whether the appearance of the rubber cloth clamp strip after installation meets the requirements.
Check the installation slot of the rubber cloth on the printing machine and clean it if necessary.
Check the verticality of the appearance of the rubber blanket.
Problem 3: Ink delamination
★ Solution
Send the MSDS report of the rubber blanket and ink samples to the laboratory for evaluation.
Inspect the back of the rubber blanket for prolonged immersion caused by excessive cleaning solvent.
Check if there are surface cracks on the surface of the rubber cloth, which can cause the solvent to corrode the adhesive.
Check the gasket and pressure.
Seal the edges of the rubber blanket.
Question 4: Printing dot ghosting
★ Solution
Tighten the rubber blanket again and install it correctly.
Retest the pressure between the printing plate, rubber cloth, and embossing drum.
Reduce the amount of ink/water.
Replace the rubber cloth with better ink affinity.
Check the dots on the printing plate.
Problem 5: Increase in printing network points
★ Solution
Replace high viscosity ink or increase viscosity.
Reduce printing speed.
Reduce the amount of ink and water.
Ink supplier checks the ink.
Reduce the pressure between the printing plate and the rubber drum.
Reduce the pressure between the rubber blanket and the embossing drum.
Lower the temperature of the fountain solution to 12 to 16 degrees Celsius.
Adjust the pH value of the fountain solution to weakly acidic. (Special paper can be used according to actual situations)
Check the size of the dots on the printing plate, and if necessary, remake the plate.
Replace with a more compatible rubber blanket.
Problem 6: Surface swelling of rubber cloth
★ Solution
Check the thickness and lining of the rubber blanket. Use high-quality rubber cloth cleaning agent and perform regular cleaning. If the rubber blanket is old, replace it with a new rubber blanket or a rubber blanket that is more suitable for the ink used.
UV ink and cleaning agents usually cause the rubber cloth to swell. Try using UV ink compatible rubber cloth.
Question 7: Printing Ghost Images
★ Solution
It's not a problem with the rubber blanket. Check the ink roller settings and run a thicker ink layer with minimal water. Unreasonable layout of graphics and text often leads to problems. If possible, change the direction of the graphics and text or rearrange the overall layout.
Question 8: Printing spots
★ Solution
Reduce the amount of water during printing operation.
Inspect the surface of the rubber blanket, clean with solvent and water.
Replace with a suitable lubricant.
Lower the temperature of the fountain solution to 12 to 16 degrees Celsius.
Contact the paper supplier and replace with suitable paper.
Remake the printing plate.
Adjust the ink balance.
Adjust the padding.
Question 9: Printing ink pile
★ Solution
Rubber blanket is unlikely to be the cause of ink accumulation problems. Check the ink balance, adjust the ink, and check the pH and conductivity of the fountain solution.
